You Were Never Meant to Bloom on Command
There is a particular kind of tiredness that does not come from doing too little. It comes from holding too much, for too long, while still being asked to grow.
Modern life quietly teaches women to bloom on command. To be open when it is convenient, productive when it is expected, soft when it is welcome and strong the rest of the time. We learn to perform our becoming on a schedule that was never ours.
But nothing in nature opens that way.
A rose does not apologize for the weeks it spends as a closed bud. The moon does not rush itself toward fullness. The tide does not stay high because someone found it more beautiful that way. Each follows a rhythm that trusts its own timing, and somehow nothing is late.
You are not behind. You are not too much. You are not too late. You are simply in your own season.
The cost of constant opening
When a woman is always available, always improving, always reaching for the next version of herself, her nervous system rarely receives the one message it needs most: you are safe now, you can rest. Without that message, the body stays braced. The mind stays loud. Even joy starts to feel like another task to manage well.
This is why rest can feel so uncomfortable at first. Stillness is not the absence of effort. For many women, it is the most unfamiliar effort of all, the practice of letting yourself be enough exactly where you are.
A softer rhythm
Returning to yourself is not a project with a deadline. It is a slow remembering. It happens in small moments: a long exhale, a walk without your phone, a page in a journal, a piece of music that lets your shoulders drop. None of it looks like achievement. All of it is how you come home.
So let this be your permission to open slowly. Petal by petal. From exactly where you are.
A reflection to carry with you
Where in your life have you been trying to bloom on command? And what would it feel like to let that part of you move at its own pace, even for one quiet week?
With softness, Sara
